The Old World is ash. It was laid low not by mere global catastrophe or atomic fire, but instead by the greatest weapon of mass destruction humanity ever produced: the expendable human clone soldier. Quickly replacing frontline troops following their introduction in the early 2020s, these unscrupulous killing machines were mass-produced and mobilized by every global superpower in a decades-long gambit for world domination. Due to the exceptional cost of every nation sustaining their clone armies, global resources dwindled, and much of the world was soon consumed by chaos and anarchy. As the superpowers collapsed one by one, their armies fell with them, and for many years the world was silent. 

From the ashes of the Old World, new powers rose to dominance. Seeking to fill the vacuum left by the nations of old, paramilitary collectives and influential corporate entities appointed themselves as the new world governments. As the battle for global control begins anew, the fledgeling new powers turn to mercenary groups to fight their battles for them – and when they need the job done right and with no questions asked, they turn to BlackShot.
